Texas Transportation Code Chapter 601

Texas Transportation Code Chapter 601 is the Texas state statute that establishes the financial responsibility law for all motor vehicle operators. Section 601.072 sets the minimum liability limits at 30/60/25. Section 601.052 lists the methods to satisfy financial responsibility (insurance, surety bond, deposit, self-insurance certificate). Section 601.191 sets penalties for driving uninsured: $175-$350 first offense, up to $1,000 repeat, plus possible license suspension and an SR-22 requirement if DPS orders it.
