No-Credit-Check Policy

Spanish: Póliza Sin Verificación de Crédito

Definition

No-Credit-Check Policy refers to a Texas auto insurance policy underwritten and priced without using the driver's credit-based insurance score as a rating factor. Texas Insurance Code Chapter 559 allows carriers to use credit information in pricing, which can push premiums higher for drivers with limited or damaged credit. No-credit-check carriers instead rely on driving record, vehicle type, garaging zip code, coverage selection, and prior insurance history. This approach is especially valuable for new Texas immigrants without any US credit history, younger drivers still building credit, and drivers who have experienced bankruptcy or collections unrelated to driving. No-credit-check does not mean looser underwriting: these carriers still review driving records, SR-22 requirements, and claims history. In the DFW market, multiple non-standard carriers offer no-credit-check policies at competitive rates — often within $10–$30 per month of comparable credit-scored policies for the same driver profile.
