Foreign License Auto Insurance (Spanish: Aseguranza con Licencia Extranjera)

Spanish: Aseguranza con Licencia Extranjera

Definition

Foreign License Auto Insurance is a Texas auto policy issued to a driver whose primary license is from another country — most commonly Mexico, Honduras, El Salvador, Guatemala, or Colombia. Many Texas non-standard carriers accept a valid foreign license alongside a Matrícula Consular or ITIN. The policy provides the same legal protection in Texas as a domestically licensed policy and satisfies Texas Transportation Code Chapter 601 financial responsibility requirements.
