Rideshare Insurance Uber Lyft

Rideshare Insurance is a Texas auto policy endorsement that closes coverage gaps left by Transportation Network Company (TNC) policies for app-arranged passenger rides — Uber and Lyft; delivery apps such as DoorDash, Instacart, and Amazon Flex are not TNCs and fall under the personal policy's business-use exclusion, which needs a delivery endorsement or commercial policy. The TNC policy only covers Period 2 (request accepted) and Period 3 (passenger in vehicle), but Period 1 (app on, no request) is not fully covered by either personal or TNC policy without a rideshare endorsement. Texas Insurance Code Chapter 1954 governs TNC coverage requirements.
