Definition
Rideshare Insurance is a Texas auto policy endorsement that closes coverage gaps left by Transportation Network Company (TNC) policies — Uber, Lyft, DoorDash, Instacart, Amazon Flex. The TNC policy only covers Period 2 (request accepted) and Period 3 (passenger or delivery in vehicle), but Period 1 (app on, no request) is not fully covered by either personal or TNC policy without a rideshare endorsement. Texas Insurance Code Chapter 1954 governs TNC coverage requirements.
