Collision Coverage (Spanish: Cobertura de Colisión)

Definition

Collision Coverage, called cobertura de colisión in Spanish, is an optional auto insurance coverage that pays for repairs to the insured driver's own vehicle after a crash with another vehicle or fixed object — regardless of fault. Collision is not required by Texas law but is typically required by lenders when a vehicle is financed or leased. The coverage applies after a deductible (commonly $500 or $1,000) is paid by the insured.
